I Am Engaged to an Addict and staying with her. AMA

Okay, I've been with my fiance for a little over five years now. We have been engaged for two years and we were supposed to get married this year but have postponed the wedding until next year.

I've been attending College and working full time at the same time for the past two years. We were planning on saving the money I've earned for the down payment on a house as well as the cost of the wedding itself. Instead 23K was spent on prescription drugs by her. The reason I did not catch it was that I thought she was giving money to her parents and or friends who were having financial difficulties at the time.

She eventually owned up to what she had been doing. We both have been going to counseling which does help and she is also in NA and working to stay sober. The counselors are amazed that I am staying with her as most people would have left in the same circumstances. I truly love her and want her to live a long and happy life with me. Money is important in this world but I believe that life is infinantly more important.

TL;DR: Fiance spent 23K on drugs, in rehab, still staying with her.
