Reddit Loves When Black People Play Video Games. Hrm.

And, to a lesser extent, http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/di78r/wtf_this_nigga_just_standing_like_jesus_in_the/ (since there was a huge story in this post about NBA Elite, this one isn't as good an example, but it's part of my point)

Is anybody else uncomfortable by these videos' upvotes coming hand-in-hand with dogpiles of comments from white people busting out the n word and laughing about "gangsta" jokes? From what I've seen, r/gaming only upvotes black content when it mocks African-American stereotypes, which is just as annoying as female content getting upvotes solely when there's a picture of titty or leg.

I'm not trying to play the PC police on the Internet--there's no point--but I have to imagine a few redditors feel the same way. If you must know, I'm white, male, straight, American, and every other privileged category you can think of, but as a lifelong nerd, I know what it's like growing up around reinforced social stereotypes, and the discomfort that comes from everybody else acting like they're no big deal. I don't care for it.
