Dear reddit: I have to serve some papers for a small-claims court thing in the next few days? Any process servers or people with experience have any tricks?
Long story short, my brother worked for a landscaping company two summers ago and the owner didn't pay him, so we've taken the company to court. We started in small-claims court, but the owner of the company didn't show up to the initial court hearing, the examination hearing, or any of the subsequent court hearings. We've served him with papers and been to court 5 times and he hasn't shown up once.
I described our "saga" previously in this topic.
So now we've been given another court appearace and we have to serve some more papers. The guy is SOOO hard to serve papers to!
Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions for process-serving? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not looking for specific legal advice, just advice on serving papers.
