I'm one of the many who are happy with the election

I noticed a lot of people are angry over the results of the election. Not so much on Reddit, but in general. Actually, I don't think angry is the right word. Would disappointed be better? Anyway, I think this election was a good thing.

Yes the GOP took the House, in name at least. But do they have majority? No, I don't think they do, if you think about it, they don't have a super majority, so they can't pick at the bills the current administration has passed, and when you factor in the extremists and the overall degradation of the party you start to see that the House is split three ways. Extreme Conservative, GOP, and the DFL, with the DFL in actual majority.

The problem with the GOP is they knew if they didn't get control this year all the good things that have been passed would start to take effect. People would realize that jobs are coming back, national spending is down, and the overall conditions are improving. They got scared because they knew if they waited they would never win the 2012 election, and in their haste they fueled hatred and ignorance. This drove a nail into the corner stone of the GOP.

Now in order to get a bill to pass they either have to make it appeal to the extremists, which they know will make them look bad, or make it appeal to the Democrats. As icing on the cake, if Obama handles the House correctly, he will force the GOP to admit he is willing to negotiate to reach consensuses, thus negating the image they have worked so hard to portray.

All said and done, I believe that this could be a good thing for the future. Plus, a brief lull in campaign adds.

Also, thanks for listening to my rant

TL;DR YAY! Elections are over!

EDIT DFL is what we call Democrats in Minnesota. Sorry about that.
