Reason why Voting day is not a nationwide holiday
Its because the lawmakers know that 18-39 are mostly working people who hold jobs and earn. Whereas the baby boom era 60+ are retired, relaxing, got nothing to do all day.
Now if they make voting day a holiday, then alot of people who were rather unwilling to vote from the 18-39 age group would turn up to vote, and that would make the Conservative Old generation loose its grip over our govt.
2012, make all your friends vote no matter what. Even if they disagree with your views, push them hard to go vote. We have to get our demographic up.
