Happy Shaman, K2, and Spike?

I've heard my local head shop is selling these brands of "incense". What is it? Can you smoke it? Are you only supposed to burn it or is this what people are smoking when they refer to "legal bud"? Please help! I don't want to end up poisoning myself :-/
