DAE not feel obligated to have an opinion about every issue and topic you're presented with?
My story is kinda boring, but serves as an example of this:
I was at a bar last night to grab a couple celebratory drinks (elections went well here in Hawai'i) and a friend from my softball team was having a conversation with another guy. They were discussing the team's fund and whether money should have been spent on bats (it was) rather than on uniforms (which we don't have). My friend had argued that the money was meant for uniforms, the other guy agreed, and both were talking about an argument that my friend had with the team manager/coach. The manager wasn't there and I had not been present for the argument.
Suddenly, the guy I didn't know was demanding my opinion -- which side was correct? I told him I didn't have an opinion on it, that I just go to softball to play ball and I didn't care if we bought bats or uniforms. He kept arguing with me that I had to have an opinion. I finally said that I wasn't going to make up an opinion for the sake of having one, and that I just hoped everybody worked it out and felt better about it later. At that point, I was rudely mocked for being indecisive or being "afraid to offend" or some such.
I found the whole situation ridiculous. Anybody else have similar experiences?
