Hey, what is your opinion of internal gear hubs?

Specifically I am looking at buying this baby.

I bike quite a bit but I would not call myself an expert when it comes to bike mechanics by any means. My KHS urban express was stolen and I was looking to replace it with a solid commuter ride. This Jamis rides like a dream and my thought with the hub would be that it would mean far less maintenance. What do you guys think? Should I shop around some more or go with my gut?

EDIT: I should throw out that I live in Portland, OR so there's lots of rain and grit.
