Does it seem odd that some people apparently already know the gift their going to give? Won't the location of the recipient effect the choice, if nothing else?

I volunteered for the foreign-country option (shipping costs, oh my!), so maybe location seems more important to me than to domestic givers. But I still don't see how you can know what you're going to give before you even know to whom you're giving it. Maybe lining up some options, but "I'm going to give [item]!" seems kind of low on consideration, even if laudably high on enthusiasm.

Or am I just out of step with everyone else (yet again)?
