Regarding "The Metal Register"

I wanted to make a selfpost here, because I think it's worth the effort to explain what's going on, and hopefully avoid drama.

The Metal Register is a new online metal magazine (launched late May) that does reviews, interviews, etc - which should be right up your alley. But there seems to be a continuous stream of downvotes, even on the most metal and not-metalcore of items, and I can't help but think this is the "blogspam brigade", especially the odd comment or two that self-identifies with this group.

Besides the obvious fact that downvoting based on source is against reddiqutte, I wanted to pose a question: why? We're an underground publication that's basically busting ass, without pay, to bring this material to metalheads, and you want to penalize us for the fact that we're not a link to YouTube or XKCD?

Yes, it's a site run by me and my company. Yes, we have ads. A fact of online publishing, though, is that it costs money to exist, and even more as you grow - we're running a negative cashflow just to keep the lights on.

Given that I am, and have been for awhile, an active reddit user, this obviously isn't spam. And choosing to prevent the growth of a site that only has your best interests in mind (because they're ours too) seems counterproductive.

We're huge metal fans - we started TMR out of a love for the music and a distaste for the various failings of other attempts at online metal publications. We're growing and we're proud of what we've accomplished, but TMR should be an effort supported by the metal community, not shoved aside in some sort of self-righteous disdain.

r/metal is part of that metal community, and we'd appreciate your support. Or, at a minimum, your not blogspam brigading all over us.
