Reddit, should I even try this long distance relationship? Help plz!

To make this as short as possible, I'm using bullets & play by play... kinda. -Met this fun girl through 2 mutual friends on New Years' Eve. Found out she had a fiancee, so I didn't flirt with her too much, and didn't try anything stupid. She was leaving for culinary school out of state in 4 days anyway, so I just ended up joking with her the rest of the night... "Are you gonna cook for us when you come home for thanksgiving, haha?" etc etc. She jokingly agreed.

-Fast forward 6 months. From the 2 mutual friends, I hear she broke it off with her fiancee... he apparently was a huge asshole. He made her cry everyday for 3.5 of the 4 years they were together. I couldn't even believe that shit. I didn't think about her too much, put her & the situation in the back of my mind.

-Fast forward to a month ago: I messaged her randomly to say hi and joke, "So you coming home soon to cook for me?", etc etc. We talked back and forth via facebook inbox messages... and then it hit me that she was single now.

-So I cut the conversation short, said to her, "but you need to tell me how your work is going, but I'm going to bed soon, just fyi. If you ever feel lonely or feel the need to phone a friend, gimme a ring! ###-###-#### Have a good night :)"

-She replied back in a paragraph, but tldr it was basically "yes, we should talk if you're ever bored here's my #."

-Texted her the next day something simple, "Hope you're having a good day!"... nothing big.

-She texted me the next day after I had wrote on my facebook that I had become an Uncle, "Congratulations, I just saw that you're an Uncle!". I called her back to thank her, and we've talked everyday or every other day, since.

-We get along really well, we've talked till 8 am on occasion, and I really want to get to know her in person now to find out if she's the one. Now here's some more info so you know where we stand. -I'm 24, she's 22. -Both of us have our bachelor's from the same uni; I have a full-time job at a hospital, she has a full-time externship alongside her culinary school training.

-She lives in NY. I live in IN. -She's coming back for a month from school to visit, and we've already planned horseback riding, rock climbing, cooking (obviously), dinner, tailgating, etc.

So... Reddit... here's my dilemna: I like her, and I'm 95% sure she likes me. We live far apart from each other. She is finishing up her school in another year, then going wherever, possibly back home to Indiana (she's close to her parents, and her parents want her home).

Should we continue being "friends that like each other"? Should I just tell her how I feel? She's over her ex-fiancee, but obviously it was less than 1/2 a year ago. Should I try to date her now? Should I just not get hurt and move on now, and not talk to her so often? I guess the best case scenario that I'm hoping, is that she moves home in a year and finds a job here. I am thinking way too far in advance? I'll stop now before I babble myself into insanity... Reddit, Help!!!
