I have a family in America. We want to migrate to better our standard of living, better schools, and to enjoy life. Good idea?

I live in California with my partner and our two daughters aged 3 and 4. My partner has a Masters Degree in Music but works in a clerical position. I have a High School Diploma and I've worked in IT as a desktop support technician and systems administrator for about 15 years. Currently, I'm self employed and I create and sell digital content on the internet and in Second Life. We make about $65,000 per year combined but due to the terrible economy we are currently renting a house for $1000 a month with no possibility of home ownership in sight. Our income would be about $25,000 per year while my partner looks for work. We own 2 cars and have saved up about $5000.

We're very worried about the public school system and want our daughters to go to school in a better environment. Neither of us speak anything other than English but we're both fairly bright and are willing to learn.

My questions...are we in good shape to migrate? If so, where would you recommend that we start looking? I like the idea of moving to Canada, Germany, Netherlands, etc.

Any advice to help point us in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
