I need phone sugestions

My work is dumping Blackberry and giving us a phone allowance. I've been wanting an Android-based phone, but couldn't justify it when work was providing me with a BB. However that has changed.

More than anything when I ask a question like this, I'm looking for what to avoid, although I'd love to hear about anything out there that stands above the rest.

If this turns into some kind of pissing match, so be it. There should still be good information contained within.
