all you standard drivers out there...

do you know if it is okay to skip gears while shifting, for example going from lets say 3rd to 5th if the rpms before you shift are around 3-3.5k?

don't get me wrong i love rolling through my gears, nothing like it. but a friend of mine does it and i was wondering if that was acceptable
