anyone else really pessimistic about the future of humanity?

The way I see it, we are creatures that historically have been hunter-gatherers, and we are living with hunter-gatherer instincts and emotions. Aaand we invented earth destroying weapons.

We have invented weapons that can destroy the entire world. Yet most humans believe in sky fairies that somehow "have a plan for all of this". If you try to tell them that will are going to destroy ourselves through climate change or nuclear war, they won't believe you, because they believe Allah or Jesus or the flying spaghetti monster is going to return someday. We have avoided nuclear war for 80 years, but if things continue to progress as they have been, someone will surely push the button within 1000 years.

tldr: we're fucked.
