AMA Request: somebody who has organized a successful fundraiser for a nonprofit, or simply raised a lot of money for charity. Help give the rest of us ideas so we can do good in the world too!

Come on reddit, if you are the type who knows you want to help but never knows how, maybe we can get some ideas from an AMA if somebody has experience here.

Before I graduate from my grad program I am really really dedicated to the idea of hosting a fundraiser. I thought of donating the money to UNICEF or a group I love called One International out of Canada.

I am at a loss of how things like this go about, I mean the logistics of getting sponsors, etc.

Hope someone out there can help!
