Persistent, mysterious phone calls asking for me.
Hey Reddit, long time lurker. This is probably nothing but my curiosity has been sufficiently piqued. I've had a bit of an odd occurance recently and my resourcefulness in the matter is reaching it's limits; I was hoping someone could help shed some light on the situation.
My parents have been receiving phone calls for me from the same person (and number) for a few months. The man began by asking for me without giving his name. He then progressed to requesting my father by name in order to request me personally, and eventually began giving his own name after multiple calls.
The man refuses to give any information on why he is calling, saying on that the information may only be given to me directly, and eventually claiming that he "will make a decision without me if necessary." Clearly if this man were acting in any official capacity he would most likely have my contact information (even if he wasn't, with the internet I don't imagine it would be too difficult to obtain). Though, that doesn't explain the persistence of the calls over an extended period of time.
Now, this is strange for multiple reasons. Firstly, I haven't lived with my parents since before college (25 now) and have had a personal cell for even longer. I don't know anyone with an even remotely similar name. Plus the number traces to Tampa, Florida, which I've never been to nor do I know anyone in the area.
I would simply call but have been unable to get through, leaving me with little recourse. While I would usually just shrug it off, I'm left wondering as my curiosity is now sufficiently piqued.
Any redditors have some effective sleuthing methods or similar experiences? The curiosity is killing me!
