What is the deal with Doctor Who video games?

I ask because I understand there is a new Nintendo game coming out this month, and then discovered this is not the first Who game for the Nintendo. But we have never seen any of them here in North America. Are they available anywhere? Will they be? I cant get a straight answer. My Google-Fu is weak, so I turn to Reddit for expertise.
