IAmAn Obese Man that has lost 90 pounds and is still losing more. my life has changed dramatically.
I just got done answering What's it like to be an obese person? and I feel other obese people could benefit from the changes I made in my life. I am certainly no expert and I'm still considered "obese" by BMI but my life has already change dramatically.
I am 27, 6' 2", and currently 285 pounds. I started at 375 pounds and I'd like to get to the 195-220 range. I eat right and exercise religiously.
Between the ages of 19-27 my life was crap. I didn't talk to women. I didn't get laid. I said no doing a lot of activities because I was either too out of shape or too self conscience, when I did go out I had to resort to alcoholism to even be sociable. I woke up feeling like crap and it just got worse throughout the day. Every meal I ate was so high fat and high sodium that I could see my blood pressure rise, my vision would literally pulse. I was lonely and mean.
These days I'm only about half way to making a complete change but so far the benefits have been enormous. I jog 3-6 miles, 3-4 days a week. I lift weights 3 days a week. 90% of my morning I wake up feeling like a million dollars. I had my first one night stand a couple of weeks ago. I have a date with a very cute girl that I actually approached, out of the blue, at a house party. A couple of years ago I wouldn't even have been at the party in the first place.
Please ask me any questions. My hope is that other obese people, specially those that were answering the above thread, will be inspired or that I can help those that want to get started getting healthy.
Edit - I don't want people to assume that I'm being shallow with the above comments when it comes to women, but that is the most noticeable difference, at least socially. I spent many years thinking I was going to live my life alone.
