Anybody at the rally notice the cops trying to force their way through the crowd?
Near the back of the rally, we were crushed in like everyone else, one stampede away from tragedy.
But a row of cop cars and ambulances forced their way through us, sirens blazing, during the end of the rally. Two people had heart attacks, a cop said. We struggled to make space for them, even as we begged them to turn off their sirens, which were going full blast in our faces. It was hard to hear before! Eventually, they conceded and shut off the sirens, and slowly made their way through us to the other side. I wondered why they didn't just go around the block, like I had to do to get across. Would actually be quicker, driving!
Later, as Stewart was finishing his speech, they all came back! Sirens blazing again!! Forcing through impossibly thick crowds, again!!!
I watched them, this time...when they got through, finally, the event was ending, and they just parked down the street like nothing was wrong. No rush to the hospital, nothing. We all passed by them on our way out, but they were just waiting there.
So, questions: Anyone else witness this? Anyone know anything more? Got any ideas on what the deal was?
