Why are we not fighting fire with fire?

Why are we tolerant of religion? To me, this is unacceptable. We are allowing them to make a joke of our educational and political systems. Why are we sitting here, lolling over the overevident ineptitude of Christians attempting to prove the validity of their beliefs? It is easy to criticize, but we need to act against religion. Hitchens and Dawkins attempting to put the Pope on trial is a perfect example of what our focus should be.
