So... I have I think I have a starting plan of action for legalizing cannabis in Arizona.

In order to get it to legalize in Arizona, we would have to run an effective campaign. An effective campaign needs to pander to its majority. Marijuana legalization has long been a liberal issue. That needs to change. We must pander to the conservative spectrum if we want it to pass in a conservative state.

ISSUES:

Stop border violence. It is estimated that 70-80% of all border violence between Mexico and the United States includes the illegal transportation of cannabis. If we legalize cannabis, 70-80% of all border violence will end.

Increase revenue. Regulated cannabis will bring in taxes that we’ve never seen before. In fact, taxes could even be lowered all across the board, if cannabis taxes take effect. We could use these taxes to fund schools, drug rehabilitation programs, and fund our police and fire departments. Legalizing cannabis will bring us useable taxes that can both lower taxes and increase revenue.

Create jobs. With the regulation of cannabis, dispensaries will be created. These dispensaries will need cannabis cultivators, security systems, construction, a regulatory board (which can be funded by cannabis tax revenue), as well as people to run the stores.

Stop the federal government from telling us how to enjoy our time. The federal government has put a stranglehold on our personal freedoms and it’s time to stop that.

Lower our overall crime rate. With cannabis related crimes taking up a portion of a police officers duty, after the legalization of cannabis, police officers can use this wasted time to look for and stop serious and violent crime.

I plan on contacting NORML within the week. These are all huge issues in Arizona, and I know a lot of people here will support legislation such as this if they knew all the positives that can came from this.

This can definitely work. Even if this is a pipe-dream, it doesn't hurt to try.
