For the sake of device recycling

So, while taking a walk in my neighborhood, I had noticed that some soul was throwing out an Altec Lansing subwoofer. Now, I am a person that enjoys repurposing old electronics in hopes of reusing them and giving them a new life. What pisses me off is when people cut the power cord off of their old electronics. Why? Why do people feel that they should cut off a power cord of something they are throwing away. I still took the sub, and am hoping that I may be able to do something with it. For all of the other people that try to make use of abandoned hardware, I ask, please just throw it out and not make it harder for someone who may actually use it. One man's garbage is anothers treasure. /rant
