Thank You Reddit.
Way back on 4/15/09 at Lafayette Park standing in a steady spring drizzle I wasn't sure how all this was going to turn out. Only a few people showed up and it seemed like it was mostly people who stopped by during their lunch break. We had to deal with a few nay-sayers but that was ok they weren't able to drown out our "T-Bag the D-Bags" chant- though a few people didn't like such overt disrespect. The metro ride back to the car was wet and miserable and an interesting experience in its self as some crazy guy came onto the train calling everyone evil etc. 9/12 however was a different story. Stepping out of the Federal Triangle station I heard a roar, I wasn't quite sure if that meant a lot of people were at the mall or their were simply advantageous acoustics on that block. Walking down 12th I began to see the crowd and stepping onto the mall I was speechless as tears rolled down my face. I really wasn't alone, we did surround them, if I was a simple eccentric I apparently had a lot of company. I didn't go to any town hall meetings though my girl friend's parents did and we all know what happened to that congressional seat. I didn't know what to expect on 8/28/10, but it ended up being like the prayer before the big Friday night game and I can honestly say I don't think I will ever be able to match the experience of hearing so many people sing Amazing Grace. So here I am the day after the big game on reddit posting an honest look back at some of my Tea Party experience. Some of the people I was pulling for lost but most of the people I was pulling for won. Sure Raese didn't win but that's OK Manchin is practically a republican anyway- I even said that as I voted for him in 2004 and 2008 and I really wished he would have finished out his term despite any hyperbole I may have used during his run for the Senate (I think he is a good governor). You can talk down to me, try to label me, try to define me, try to tell me I don't know what I am saying etc. Just remember kids Don't Tread on Me. You know 2012 is just 2 years away.
