Watch Rachel Maddow segment (Nov 1) and feel a bit better about the Democratic losses yesterday.

Rachel Maddow describes how the Democrats used their "political capital" which they earned over the past years to get real policy and law written. Rather than using the capital to make points with voters with ensure the Democratic margins of the past year, they used it up making real laws that accomplished real things - TARP including largest tax cut of all time, auto buy back, real consumer reform, real environmental changes, student loan reform, real banking reform.

I'm as pissed as everyone else that it seemed impossible to do go and make political hay at the same time but if they are mutually exclusive, I'm proud they took the noble path.
