H.R. 197: National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009

What is your opinion of HR 197?

I'd like to see something like this passed. I'm sure it would need some editing to get to that point, such as requirements for achieving a compliant CCW. I'd also clarify the limitations,

in a portion of an establishment licensed by the State to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises

is a little vague, like the Louisiana law. Does this mean the bar at Chili's? Or Chili's at all, since alcohol is served anywhere in the restaurant?

I'd also like to make these the only illegal places to carry, and allow states to preempt the laws and allow carry in more places.

I think that's reasonable. And if Illinois doesn't want to issue permits, well, my Texas, or your Iowa/Alabama/wherever permit is perfectly valid.

I can dream, can't I?
