Getting started

Hi all, I am looking to get started freelancing. Where did you guys find your first clients? Where do you get your current clients? Is it all from craigslist?

Craigslist seemed to have a few opportunities a week for simple websites. Where do you find opportunities to build more complicated web apps or desktop apps?

Thanks
