What do the red pins or plastic flowers that the coaches and staff wear on their lapels stand for?

I'm watching the Leafs Caps game and notice that everyone is wearing these red pins on their lapels. Can someone tell me why they're wearing them or what they stand for. Here is a picture of MacTavish wearing one.
