my bf just got a quirt to use on me. tips? experiences?

i posted something in r/sex but was told this was the more appropriate community. i never knew this subreddit existed and... yeah... it's awesome it does. but to the point of my post -- i've enjoyed being whipped with a small whip in the past... so my bf got a quirt. i saw some pics online and i'm a little nervous. i'd like to hear tips on how he can use it properly and experiences from people who have been "quirted". thanks.
