Runners of Reddit... Question
Ok so I'm starting to get into running. It kind of happened by accident. I was peer pressured into a 5K a few months ago and after finishing that one with a group of co-workers, we immediately signed up for another one in December. I was just wondering what a respectable 5K time would be for a novice 25 year old male who's packing a few extra pounds (I qualified for Clydesdale for my last run, but after losing some weight will probably be under for the one in December). Right now I'm running a practice 5K in about 30:46, but I feel like there is some room for improvement.
Also, any recommendations for improving speed? I know I probably won't be able to improve much in 4 weeks, but I'm sure I'll continue to participate in races throughout the year.
Also, in case any of you from the Hartford area and want to participate in the December run here's a link. Thanks!
