The question about the space that electron shells are occupy in relation to one another
Where does electron orbitals reside in relation to one another? Are they like a babushka doll, also known as a Russian nesting doll or a matryoshka doll (a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other)? Are electron shells placed like this?
All the videos and images of orbitals that I found depicted them in a separate state (only s-orbitals or only d-orbitals).
The easiest orbitals to imagine for me, is s-orbitals, because they are simply placed in one another in decreasing order - very easy to envisage. But how are placed other types of orbitals?
