A "Prop 19" conversation I had with a fellow stoner today (I'm in Cali)...

Me: So Prop 19 didn't pass.

Her: Yeah, I saw. Did you vote yesterday?

Me: I did.

Her: I ended up not voting, but I would've voted against it anyway.

Me: Really? Pourquoi?

Her: My mom and some friends actually did some research on it... some of my aunts friends grow and sell and they're really against it-

Me: Well of course they're against it; legalizing would open up growing to thousands more individuals/companies that are currently hesitant. They're just looking out for their bread and butter, and I can't blame them for that, but the prohibition has to end.

Her: -And it will. But, like I said, my mom actually looked into it and there were a lot of loopholes created in this bill that need to be worked out.

Me: Loop hole such as...?

Her: I don't really remember.

Me: I read the proposition. I heard the arguments against it. Yeah, the verbiage in the prop wasn't air-tight and there could be some issues down the road that would need to be fixed, but most anti-19 claims were lies or simple fear tactics that had little-to-no factual basis. And whether or not the prop was perfect, it would have immediately corrected one huge flaw in our system - prohibition, plain and simple.

Her: Yeah, well, like I said. It'll pass, eventually-

Me: But that's the thing. It won't. Not if people like you get scared by things you don't even know. Hell, even the medical marijuana laws here in cali had to be amended/updated (by Prop 215), but it took the passage of SB 420 to get to that point. If people aren't going to take a stand for full legalization, perfect or no, then talking about fixing loopholes by amending legislation that didn't get passed is just, well, silly...

Her: True. At least you and I still have our medical cards. Speaking of which, you want to roast?

Me: Hell yeah.

TL;DR - Argued about Prop 19 with someone who didn't vote, then got high.
