Is it me or do Europeans love sounding like Americans when they sing?

I noticed this when I was watching [this interview of Camera Obscura] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6JElfKGzu4). I had to listen closely to catch some of the words she was saying in the interview (Scotch accent), but when singing she drops the accent. I feel like this holds true to many non-American (but English speaking) singers. Does anyone have any insight into this phenomenon?
