AMA Request: Former Daily Show Correspondant - Mo Rocca

So tonight I went to see Mo Rocca guest speak at my university. I knew he was a Daily Show correspondent for a few years, so I was definitely interested in seeing how the show would turn out. I knew it would be somewhat comedic, but I was blown away at how smart and hilarious Mo Rocca was. What really surprised me was his criticism of television, though. He told a story about how Fox News and the O'Riley factor called him a few years back asking him to do a story on Lingerie/Pregnant Barbie. He explained the whole situation about how Fox called him saying

"Hey, we are getting ready to do a piece on Lingerie Barbie, what are your thoughts on her?"

His response was something along the lines of "Oh, I think it's ridiculous"

Then Fox replies back "Ohhhh...that's really too bad, because you see...we were really looking for someone who could defend her..."

Mo Rocca then replies "Well, you know. I actually don't mind Lingerie Barbie. I mean, yeah. I think there's a need for her in toy stores"

The entire point was about how ridiculously staged most of the pieces are, and the best politicians are the best actors. Having worked in the entertainment industry, he gave everyone a good amount of insight.

He has more of a...my jokes are funny because they make you think, and you usually have to be somewhat intelligent to get them, dry humor

After the show those willing to stay after got to hang out and ask a few questions. It blew me away how smart this guy was, mostly involving random facts and interests. Working for NPR, he shed some light and his thoughts on the whole Juan Williams and Rick Sanchez controversies. I ended up asking him a few questions about his time at the Daily Show, the rally this past weekend, his thoughts on Pot, What websites he browses for the different "Off Beat" stories, and if he browses Reddit. He said he's heard of Reddit quite a bit, but he's never really checked it out. I gave him the gist of it, explaining the whole AMA section, and he seemed genuinely interested. Any way we can get this upvoted enough to maybe spark another celebrity AMA? I'm confident that given the intelligence of this community as a whole, we'd be able to turn him into a believer. Maybe a few @replies to his Twitter will help as well!
