please help me with my dumb questions about couches

I have come to the time in my life where my first career is happening at the same time as me having my first apartment and also me having to buy my first couch.

I have no idea why but I cannot stop obsessing over the couch. Should I buy it from craigslist or my local furnature store? What colour? A bright, ballsy colour, or a boring neutral? A stunning fashionable couch or a comfy one? Also I hate recliners. And also one of those couches where one of the seats extends into a chaise lounge looks exceedingly comfy in theory but I have never tested this in practice. Has anyone experienced the comfyness of a chaise lounge? Would an ottoman suffice? How soft and cushy and overstuffed does a couch have to be to be uber comfy? Am I really gonna have to spend like 12 hundred bucks on one of these suckers? I mean as much as I love the look of a cool victorian sofa or a mid century teak couch, neither could possibly be comfy.

I know. why is this consuming my thoughts?!?!??! HALP

Edit: also has anyone in real life actually found an uber cool, perfect couch from craigslist or an vintage store or your grandmothers basement, and then had it re-upolstered, and then it turns out fabulously, or am I just looking at Apartment Therapy a little too much?
