For Anna
(1st Draft, please provide any criticism. Thanks)
I run my fingers through your thick
and thoroughly-wild silky strands.
You smile a smile I have seen before,
never any different— yet never the same.
Your sparkling emeralds shine a light
that illuminate my wildest dreams.
Whenever my eyes flutter open on
an early morning; you are not there.
It is then I remember that you’re gone.
Only in my dreams can I see you—
and feel you. It is only there that I can
see you waiting for me among misty waters.
I wonder what you are thinking about.
The way he holds you tightly at night,
or perhaps the way he loves you tenderly?
I can only hope he makes you happier,
as much as it pains me to say.
It’s better off this way.
