Does Touhou have any relationship with satanism?

Miscellaneous

Don't get angry, this is a serious question.

Yes, 99% of the characters have nothing to do with Abrahamic religions, so they are infact, pagans according to Abrahamic sects.

They are clearly polytheists, idol-worshippers.

Most of them eat/harm humans on daily basis.

Some of them are very skilled in conducting Satanic rituals.

The priestesses deal with demons almost all the time, often by partying with them.

And they can't live without sake.

The extra stage on IN has a 666 cap for the next life.

Sure if you are one of those dumbasses who think anything that is not 100% Christianity is Satan but if you have that line of thinking 99.9% of everything is Satan.

Lots of media uses all sorts of symbols all the time without themselves being related to where those symbols come from.

I.e. a movie that uses a Shinto symbol can use it without being related to Shintoism whatsoever.

There are lots of movies that use "666" as some kind of story hint for a villain or a thematic thing, without the movie itself being even close to related to satanism.

So no. Touhou is not even remotely close to being related to satanism.

Swastika has always been a sign of Buddhism, Shintoism and almost every Eastern religions as well. Until Hitler decided to borrow that symbol in the west.

No, there is no relation to abrahamic satanism. While there are multiple locations called “Hell” in the canon, its more a translational thing and might be more accurate to think of them as more of an “afterlife” or “underworld”.

Jesus was mentioned once, and not in a way that make him the best thing ever, and that's about the most relevant thing that happened in canon.

There are tiny references elsewhere, but not in a way that is explicitly about satanism. Like the 666 floor (Parsee's dialogue) or the random magic circles, or the witch-themed magician.

First I saw footage of the game I recall thinking the rune circles behind the characters were something satanic.

Depends on how you see Shinki. Otherwise, it's a no.

The only things having anything to do with the three abrahamic religions in touhou are occasional references and in general only a handful of characters have ever even heard of christianity.

The closest things to satanism are the 666 score limit for the extra life in touhou 6 extra stage and Remilia Scarlet having the nickname Scarlet Devil. Considering that they are both centuries old European mythological creatures, it would be weird for them to not have added negative pictures of themselves in the context of christianity, especially since Remilia Scarlet has an ego hungry for identification as a powerful, charismatic and fear inducing vampire. The 666 is just there for flavor and the creator must have thought it just fitted really well, since the score life limit had to be set somewhere around that area to not give players too many lives for the fight. You are also fighting a vampire that is very malicious creature in traditional European folklore and 666 in a game called Touhou 6 just feels satisfying.

The pentagrams have absolutely nothing to do with christianity. The pentagrams seen in Touhou 6 signify the 5 elements of the chinese, which are metal, wood, fire, water and earth. The magician Patchouli behind the pentagrams attacks the protagonist using these elements and they even have the elements in their names, so pentagrams have a different symbolic meaning altogether.
