So many nights

Feedback Received!

A home was made where they said I could lay;

Bricks strong, walls cold to touch, keeping me safe.

Like winter winds, constant bearing snowflakes,

So many nights I’ll be awake.

She said lay your weary head on me to rest

Your mind, I pray you, to me, to undress.

Heartbeat’s heard while sleeping on her chest

O restless soul, take now the test.

A homeless man sought shelter from the chill;

Yet to be found, his body, even still.

From storms that overcome the strongest will

Fighting I’ll be ‘til I’m killed.

Streetlights glow thru haze of midnight fog-

The wanderer so many nights is lost.

He knows before night’s up he’ll know the cost

Yet yearns still for a taste of frost.

A home I seek, before the storm is through,

A place, a heart to give myself up to.

Like winter storms, my restless soul will move-

So many nights I beg for truth.

A home was built of wood and bricks and lies;

She Left all who loved there wond’ring why

Their alibi crumbled before her eyes,

like them all, I still will try.

By the storm’s end, earth caked with shattered glass.

So many nights I dreamt about the past;

The hearth brings warmth, yet the mind finds the cracks.

Breathe now and know, this is your last.

The wanderer is lost, he’ll come around;

For if not lost, how can a man be found?

Scream not your sorrow, do not make a sound

So many nights, your bed’s the ground.

I ask you now, can you finally see

The reasoning behind my fantasy;

Until the storm can make the best of me,

So many nights, of that I’ll dream.
