How to use Brandmiester Parrot (9990)

Hello, I am trying to tune the RX BER on my mmdvm hotspot/ anytone 868 setup. To do this, I would like to test the BER by using the parrot TG (9990).

I am having trouble connecting to the parrot. On my Anytone 868, I go to List, then Back, then New Contact. I add the private ID of 9990, then Save Contact. Now I see it in the list, select it and then key up. I say test, test, test. But nothing is repeated back. Any ideas? Thanks!!!
