Positive comparisons to ex?

I find my relationship with my new boyfriend much better than the one I had with my ex (we broke up a year ago). The relationship is still super new, so I'm not really used to it yet. When the current boyfriend says or does some things, I am struck with the thought that he is better than my ex in specific ways. E.g. my ex used to say things like "you're perfect, I'm not good enough for you" and could not take a compliment. This current boyfriend is much more secure and has no problems taking compliments. I'm not sure if such comparisons are things my current boyfriend would appreciate hearing about. It's pretty common advice not to compare negatively and talk about how the current partner doesn't measure up to an ex, but is it unhealthy to compare and talk about how they're better than the ex, especially if I phrase it as a compliment for specific acts instead of an overall character comparison? Or is this still something that should be avoided?
