Does anyone have a dog crate I can borrow?
Sorry if this lacks coherency. I haven’t really slept and I can’t stop crying.
Last night my dog, Nova, hurt her back. Not doing anything in particular, she’s just a breed prone to bad backs. We spent 2/3s of yesterday in the animal hospital, for them to tell us we basically just have to wait and see if it gets worse in the next 48 hours. Till then they’ve told us not to let her move. She’s is a small, active dog. She loves to play and jump. She follows me or my mom everywhere.
The surgery is about $5000 to fix it and neither my parents nor I have that kind of free cash lying around. Not to mention, the vets say even if she gets the surgery it can just come back.
I can’t sleep cause I’m too afraid she’ll jump up on the bed to be with me. I am so scared I’m going to lose her. She’s my whole world.
They recommended crating her to stop her from moving for the next two days . I don’t have one. And I don’t want to buy one as in 48 hours I may have to put my dog down. It will be one more thing in my home that reminds me of her and I will have to get rid of it. It does not need to be a big crate. Just a small-mid sized one. For two days and then I promise I’ll give it back.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: thank you to all the people who reached out and offered their crates to me. I have lived in Toronto over a decade and Torontonians have always been the nicest people. I am always proud to be one of you.
I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to a lot of people. We had to take Nova back to the hospital. She now no longer has the use of her back legs. She has stopped trying to stand. The vet has told us now that there is no need to wait the 48 hours. She is progressing too fast for that. So I will no longer be needing a crate. The next, most positive outcome, is that she will require a wheel chair. The worst is that she will be either paralyzed or need to be put down.
A lot of people have told me to start a go fund me. I will, when I am home and situated. I will edit this post with the go fund me when I have made it.
A very special thanks to every on here with kind words, offers of crates, and suggestions for how to help. I don’t feel as alone as before.
