Is the beauty community quicker to overlook/forgive controversies by male influencers/brand owners than female ones?
This is something I’ve been thinking about this morning. For example both Manny and Laura Lee got “cancelled” in the original Dramageddon, but Manny still seems to be doing pretty well and has his makeup line in Sephora. Whereas I haven’t heard anything from Laura Lee or her makeup line since holiday last year.
The king of dramas himself Jeffree Star is still selling hundreds of thousands of his new palettes and seems to be totally untouchable. Whereas Kat Von D who has also been accused of racist behavior (along with multiple other things) is still widely shunned by the beauty community.
I’m not saying this is definitely happening. I just think it’s an interesting discussion point. Do you think there is anything to this?
