Bronchitis and Nparents
I get some kind of bronchitis around the same time every year, but I don't really know if there's a term for that so I'm going to call it seasonal bronchitis. That's not a thing, I know, but that's what I'm gonna call it. I'm currently going through it again, and I've been thinking back to the last couple times I've had it and the ways my parents have dealt with it. I'm just sitting and reflecting, and It's just hitting me how fucked some of these reactions were.
Two years ago I got my seasonal bronchitis, and I remember being insanely bundled up, sitting in bed with several pillows keeping me upright while I tried to sleep. Nothing was working, and I couldn't stop coughing. To make a long story short, my dad gabbed me by the shoulders, shook me and yelled at me to stop coughing. Sir... I have bronchitis. And then my parents started telling me they were going to take me to the hospital, almost as if they were threatening me? I don't know what the hell that was but it scared me. I promptly forgot about it later on but remembering it now... what the hell?
The most recent time I had it was last year, and I had to stay home from school because of how horrible I was feeling. My parents made sure to make me feel guilty for every day I missed, and made me feel horrible for getting better during one of the days I stayed home. I don't get it.
But now I realize that these are the reasons why I try to suppress every coughing fit I feel coming up, and why I've been forcing myself to go to school for the past couple days -- even though my classmates have told me I look dead, my ability to concentrate is being affected, and I end up falling asleep the second I get home out of sheer exhaustion. Just realized how fucked this is.
