Apple pencil nibs and matte screens

I use the ipad and apple pencil to create digital art. I purchased a matte screen to create more resistance between the nib and the screen for a more paper like feel. While I've had the desired effect it feels like my nibs are wearing down a lot faster.

I bought a pair of second party replacements and after about 4 weeks of moderate use they have worn down. I wonder if this is as a result of my use frequency combined with the matte surface? I don't mind shelling out more for a set of official apple nibs but I dont want to go through a pack of 4 in a couple of months.
