Connection went from Excellent to Good on 4K TV
So apparently excellent is only shown on a TV with 4K, which I have. And it did show an excellent connection like 3 days ago. Yesterday I turned on Stadia again, and it only goes to Good. It doesn't show any 4K HDR anymore. I tried rebooting the Chromecast, I tried rebooting the TV itself, no idea what to do about it. Of course I checked my connection, and it is all good. I don't have any unusual traffic, no changes to the router, nothing. Down speed is 1 Gbit, up is 50 Mbps. Connection is wired. I am at a loss.
It still shows that I am using the "best quality", but I can't help but feel that it looks blurrier than usual. As I understood, you only get full 4k visuals when excellent is showing. When excellent shows it actually has 4K HDR underneath the connection quality.
Edit:// Tried factory resetting the Chromecast Ultra, nothing.
Edit2:// On Samurai Shodown it shows an Excellent connection. Might that be a Trials problem atm?
Edit3:// Never mind, replugging the ethernet cable fixed it for whatever reason. It shows excellent again. Hope that won't be a standard now, replugging your cable every now and then. And it WAS blurrier. I am looking at the exact same scene as earlier, and now there is no blurriness to it. So, guys, make sure you actually have Excellent showing on your Chromecast to enjoy max resolution.
Edit4:// Here we go again, it worked for a hot minute, now it won't go above good anymore. I love Stadia, but holy hell, fuck the Chromecast Ultra.
Edit5:// I might be onto something here. I restarted the game and then it showed excellent. Google stated that there is a network check being performed every single time you start up a game. So if that initial check doesn't catch your full speed it needs immediately, it could limit you to "good" or whatever it classified you as. Because I haven't seen any change in network connection status in all the hours I have played. I can imagine it would go down, if your connection were to decline, but probably not go higher, not from what I have seen. This might be the exact reason. So restart your games, guys, if you don't have what you usually have. That might fix the connection status.
HOPEFULLY FINAL EDIT:// Multiple times, when the connection was good instead of Excellent, I restarted the game and it caught up. So it must be a Chromecast Ultra thing, which will hopefully be fixed at one point. So, again, RESTART YOUR GAMES IF YOU HAVE A GOOD INSTEAD OF EXCELLENT CONNECTION ! (IF you are supposed to have one in the first place)
