A question to supporters of Duterte
Hi, so it should be apparent that my political view is that I dislike President Duterte. Having said this, I would not despise one who does follow him. My background is as someone who grew up in an environment that dislikes the specific deed done by Duterte - extrajudicial killings, as well as the overall outlook of Duterte. It should also be said that it is also my personal belief that I dislike Marcos as well as what was done during his time in power. I just found it peculiar that there are those around me, whom I had thought would share this kind of view me, on the contrary have the opposite opinion.
Having said this, I cannot say I firmly hate the president, and this personal political view is mostly a product of the environment that I was in as well as the information that was available to me at any given time. Of course, many may interpret this as the "fake news" that is present - I am aware that there are fake-news floating about, so it might be a pointless pursuit to seek out the "truth", especially for someone like myself who does not have adequate channels in receiving truthful news (and even if I did see truthful news, I may not know for certain which is correct or not).
It is with this background that I want to ask those who support Duterte to tell me about their worldview as to why they see Duterte in such a manner that is contrary to what I have been seeing, or taught to see. It would also be great if someone could also guide me through a deep-dive as to why the political views are so split about this.
I hope we can be civil, and please understand that I am not doing this as a political statement, as I rarely do such things. This is more for a better understanding on the situation. Here's to hoping for a calm discourse!
