About two months ago I went to see my doctor about my anxiety. It became very bad after being stressed out about starting a new job. The doctor prescribed me 25mg of Zoloft and 2mg of Ativan to take (15 pills) as needed. I felt a bit out of it after taking 2mg so I instead broke them in half and took one in the morning and one at night. Shortly after the prescription ran out I started to have trouble sleeping with racing unwanted thoughts. On the 4th night of getting no sleep I started to have a manic episode (which I've never had before) I went to urgent care and they gave me 3 more pills of Ativan since they believed the issue was with a bad reaction to the zoloft so they had me discontinue that medication.
I made an appointment to go see my PCP and he switched me to buspar and gave me 7 more pills of Ativan. I used the last of my Ativan on Thursday evening and since then I've once again had trouble sleeping, racing heart, Racing thoughts (although all work related anxiety thoughts not suicidal ones).
Are these symptoms of Ativan withdrawl? I have been on the medication for less than 2 months and was under the impression that 2 months wasn't enough time to develop an addiction. If it is indeed Ativan withdrawl what should I do? My doctor did say that if I was having trouble sleeping he could prescribe Trazadone. Will this help with withdrawls or make things worse?
