[Discussion] Leaving dog alone overnight

I've had my Chocolate Lab for almost a year now and even though he's only 1.5 years old, he doesn't act like a puppy at all. Typically I'll be gone for work for about ~9hrs a day and he shows no signs of separation anxiety at all. Sometimes he'll take a shoe to the couch but rarely actually chews it up (I've still put my shoes in a separate room). Other than shoes, he's only chewed up things lying around the house twice in about a year.

My question is that if I have be away from home for a night, based on this behavior could I expect him to behave any different?

My logic would be that if on a normal workday, if I spend 9 hours away from him and the rest of the day with him and he's totally fine, then on a weekend if I spend the whole day with him and then spend 9 hours away he'd also be fine.
