Keys E, H, Enter not working... Kind of...

Open

This all started yesterday.

I've got a custom built Clevo gaming laptop. I've had it for just over 1 year (probs circa 14 months or so).

Yesterday I noticed that my enter key stopped working, and my E and H keys also.

I've just tested my keyboard now and here's a total list of keys suddenly not working:

7, 0, E, ], H, 7 on Numpad, 3 on numpad.

This is hugely inconvenient for me as I use this for both gaming, as well as work (I'm a developer).

I have tried the following:

  • Enabling/disabling sticky, filter and toggle keys
  • Uninstalling all keyboard devices including hidden ones from device manager and restarting my laptop.
  • Altering the keyboard regedit to increment the priority.
  • Screaming at the laptop and banging my head against a wall.
  • Rebooting into safe mode.

I cannot seem to find OEM drivers online for the Clevo PA70ES laptop keyboard anywhere. Clevo seem to be total rubbish at this kind of stuff.

I'm terrified it's a hardware fault, but here's why I'm not too sure:

  • When pressing a then immediately any of the affected keys afterwards, the desired key is successfully printed into notepad, however if I then press the desired key again, it does not work, only if I specifically press A first.

  • When screwing around with different settings i.e reinstalling drivers, turning sticky, toggle and filter keys on and off, the keys all seem to work perfectly, but then they randomly stop again.

I'm about to take the laptop apart and check the ribbon but does anyone have any ideas?

Surely because I can make each key work successfully after pressing A first, means this is a software fault, no?

Thanks,

Jamie
