Why would anyone side with the board?

Based on what we see it's a poorly run organization, that isn't above ruthlessly killing innocent people for the betterment of a wealthy elite.

Their solution for the food crisis is in no way long term.

Siding with Phineas is not only the good decision, but the smarter one too.
